Risk Tree Inspection
Forestry department staff conduct annual inspections of all street trees to insure the safety of those using the street and sidewalk. We typically conducted these inspections in January or following a severe wind or ice storm. When we find a structurally unsafe tree, we notify the adjacent property owner and schedule a time to remove the tree. In some cases, we must remove the tree immediately and are unable to notify the adjacent property owner in advance.
When trees are removed due to disease, decay, or severe storm damage, removal sites are inspected for future planting and reforestation opportunities.
Trees with large broken branches and/or split tree trunks along city streets should be reported to the Fargo Forestry Department.
You can use our online form to request inspection of a tree that may be hazardous, or call us at 241-1465.
