Phase IV Restrictions - Drought Warning

Essential uses: No restrictions for fire fighting and medical use. Hydrant flushing to a water truck for reuse.

Water Treatment Utility: Mandatory Best Managment Practices (BMPs) for water conservation.  Initiate public education program which is more intense than Phase II. Maximization of available emergency supplies. Implement drought surcharges to meet escalated drought expenses and motivate increased conservation. Surcharges shall be imposed in accordance with Commission resolution.

Other city departments: Mandatory BMPs for water conservation.

Residential: Mandatory one-day-per-week watering restrictions in compliance with designated water schedule. Mandatory BMPs for water conservation. Promote voluntary retrofit of plumbing fixtures and changes in water use behavior.

Commercial: Mandatory one-day-per-week watering restrictions in compliance with designated water schedule. Mandatory BMPs for water conservation. Restaurants asked to serve water to customers only on request.

Industrial: Mandatory one-day-per-week watering restrictions in compliance with designated water schedule. Mandatory BMPs for water conservation. Voluntary shutdown of nonessential operations.

Landscape watering: Mandatory one-day-per-week watering restrictions in compliance with designated water schedule.

Golf courses: Mandatory compliance with designated golf course watering schedule.

Vegetable gardens: Mandatory 1one-day-per-week watering restrictions in compliance with designated water schedule.

Other outdoor uses: Hoses used for washing vehicles, or any other use, must have positive shutoff valves. Washing of personal or commercial vehicles limited to designated vehicle washing schedule.  Personal and commercial vehicles shall only be washed at commercial facilities. Hoses not to be used for cleaning hard-surfaced areas except to alleviate health or fire hazards. Increased enforcement.

Retail and commercial vehicle washing facilities: Mandatory BMPs for water conservation. May restrict hours of operation.

Constructions: Mandatory hydrant meters for use of city water; city may restrict hours of use. Water use for dust control, trench backfill or other uses require individual approval from Water Utility.  Increase enforcement.
