In an effort to keep lead and other toxics out of the landfill, the City of Fargo holds an annual electronics recycling event for households and businesses each spring. We accept one computer and television per household at this event at no charge; businesses should contact us for rates.
Consider donating items in working condition
If you have upgraded your computer (at home or work) and just know someone would be able to use it, you are probably right! Some organizations in Fargo accept working computers and turn them around for use in our community. Contact the following:

Check with thrift stores in our area to see if they accept donations of working computers. There are also people looking for computer parts and components on our local Web site: www.fmgiveaway.com. Check the "wanted" listings, or post your items in the "available" listings.

Many major computer manufacturers offer you the opportunity to "trade up" to a new computer. They will buy back your old hardware and give you a credit toward the purchase of new equipment. Contact your computer's manufacturer or visit its Web site for more information.
Ebay offers online exchange for used electronics
Ebay Inc. has an online store that provides businesses and consumers with a site to buy and sell used and refurbished electronics. The website, Ebay Electronics, contains listings of new and used consumer electronics, computers, peripherals, telecom equipment, software, video games and other products.
