Fargo Police Citizen's Academy


To provide education and awareness to members of the community about what the Fargo Police Department is, what we do, and how we accomplish our mission.  A continuing program to develop citizen awareness, understanding and assistance of the role of law enforcement in our community.

Size of the Class

Class will be 15-20 people.

Duration of the Class

The academy will be scheduled each Monday, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., for eight (8) weeks.

Classes for the spring 2015 session will begin March 2 and conclude April 27 (Graduation night).


The Fargo Police Department will incur all cost.

About the Academy

The Fargo Police Citizen's Academy will expose citizens to many of the challenges that face our officers.  Instruction will be in the following areas:

  • Domestic Violence Investigation
  • Narcotics/Gangs Investigation
  • Police Training Officer Program
  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Sex Crimes/Sexual Offenders
  • Response to Resistance Training
  • Red River Valley SWAT Team
  • Investigations
  • Crime Scene Processing
  • Police K9 Handling
  • Traffic Stops
  • Volunteer Information

Course Instructors

Instructors will be command officers, patrol officers and staff of the Fargo Police Department.  Classes will be comprised of lecture and realistic hands on training when possible.


For the spring 2015 academy, please fill out the 2015 application and form  and return it no later than February 23.
