Drug Recognition Expert
Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), is a title given to an officer who has received special training in impaired driving. A DRE officer is trained in how to evaluate a person believed to be under the influence of a drug or drugs to determine their impairment level. Most often this is done when the person was operating a motor vehicle and is being charged with Driving under that influence of a drug or drugs.
The Fargo Police Department has seven DRE's currently certified.
