Rabanus Park will be transformed into a destination that the community takes pride in and will have a sense of ownership of. In the end, Rabanus Park will become a model for ecological revitalization and education to all about the importance of nature. The original purpose of effectively holding stormwater will be maintained and even, arguably, improved.
The goal is to honor the site's existing identity while creating a new one. This new identity will be responsive to the neighborhood's social structure, cultural history, natural history, and its relationship to the Red River watershed. The emphasis of the Fargo Project is on the process as much as it is on the final product, since it is not only the space itself that will be transformed but also the people involved as well.
