The Inspections Department enforces codes adopted by the City of Fargo, including heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing and building, as well as some of the city's ordinances. You can find our current building permit fee schedules on our Residential Permit Fees and Commerical Permit Fees pages.
We work with the Board of Appeals to ensure that these codes are fairly and reasonably interpreted and enforced. The 2012 editions of the International Codes have been adopted by the City Commission with the local amendments our staff and Board of Appeals have worked so hard with the community to craft.
Click below for the ordinances adopting the current local amendments to those codes. The 2009 International Energy Conservation Code has been adopted by reference and there are no local amendments.
The 2015 International Codes are available as an option for design and will be required for use as of January 1, 2017. You can find the local amendments to the 2015 codes below:
