Building Inspections

The Inspections Department enforces codes adopted by the City of Fargo, including heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing and building, as well as some of the city's ordinances.  NOTE: The fees for commercial and residential building permit fees have been changed.  You can find the new fee schedules on our Residential Permit Fees and Commerical Permit Fees pages.

We work with the Board of Appeals to ensure that these codes are fairly and reasonably interpreted and enforced. The 2012 editions of the International Codes have been adopted by the City Commission with the local amendments our staff and Board of Appeals have worked so hard with the community to craft.

Click below for Adobe Acrobat .pdf files of the current local amendments to those codes. The 2009 International Energy Conservation Code has been adopted by reference and there are no local amendments.
