Each year in the United States, on average, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized and 36,000 people die from seasonal flu complications.
Medications: Most patients are not given medications for influenza except those who are very sick or hospitalized, or those at risk for complications including: pregnant women, those with chronic health conditions and young children.
