Cathedral Elm

Ulmus x 'Cathedral'

40' tall x 35' wide, vase shaped growth, yellow/brown fall color, Hardiness Zone 4.

This elm is a hybrid between Siberian (U. pumila) and Japanese (U. japonica) Elms.  Somewhat bushy in appearance when young, but closely resembles a Siberian Elm at maturity.  Initial plantings of this tree are found along 10th Street North between 19th Avenue and 28th Avenue.  This tree is a fast grower (2'-4' per year when young), does well in heavy clay soils, and has a yellow fall color.  High resistance to Dutch Elm Disease.
