Harwood Drive Demolition & Earthen Levee
Prior to the spring flood of 2011, the City of Fargo installed a temporary earthen levee behind several homes along Harwood Drive. After the flood of 2011, the city acquired #517, #601 & #619 Harwood Drive for flood mitigation. In an effort to minimize the amount of temporary flood control measures needed to protect properties in the Harwood Groves Addition during future flood events, the City of Fargo demolished the structures and constructed an earthen levee across the properties to a river elevation of 44' as shown on the site plan map.
During the fall of 2012, the City also acquired #437, #501 & #509 Harwood Drive. These structures will be sold at a public auction on Monday, March 18th, 2013 and a levee will be constructed during the 2013 construction season connecting onto the levee that was built to the north of these three houses. Please feel free to visit Pifers.com for further details regarding the auction.
