I-29 & 64th Ave. S.
As conditions warranted during previous flood fights the City installed temporary clay levees in the I-29 ditches near 64th Avenue South to protect the City from overland flooding. As flood waters receded the levees were removed and the ditches were restored with topsoil and seeding.
In the fall of 2011, the City permanently installed clay levees in the I-29 ditches to reduce the City’s reliance on temporary emergency measures. Doing so also eliminates the need for temporary installation, removal and site cleanup costs.
